Video Meetings & Asterisk ConfBridge SFU
AiPBX provides WebRTC multi-party video conferencing backed by Asterisk app_confbridge SFU / Follow-Talker modes.
- SFU Mode (Selective Forwarding Unit): For modern WebRTC browsers. Streams are forwarded without re-encoding, allowing responsive multi-speaker gallery grids with minimal server CPU.
- Follow-Talker Mode: For SIP hardware video phones. Actively switches the dominant speaker to all endpoints.
- Guest Magic Links: Invite external clients or non-subscribers via email with a one-click magic link (/meet/{token}) and downloadable .ics calendar invite.
Limits to know
- Someone whose network drops stays in the room for up to about 90 seconds. Browsers do not report a lost connection, and Asterisk notices it through SIP session timers, which cannot be shorter.
