System Update

How does updating work?

The update first backs up the database, settings and Asterisk configuration, then installs the new version and tests that everything works. If anything fails it automatically returns to the previous version. Asterisk is restarted only when the update needs it (a new Asterisk configuration or package); the page says so below. For such an update you choose what happens to calls in progress: wait until they end, or end them. While it waits, you can still end them or cancel the update. A call that starts after the wait, during the update itself, also drops. Any other update only reloads Asterisk, and calls continue. Files under the install folder that were changed by hand do not stop an update: they are saved in its backup and kept, unless the new version changes the same file. Then the new version is used and the page log names the file. It can also be run on the server: sudo aipbx-update
