Transports
Module Guide
Where Asterisk listens for SIP. A phone can use any transport that is on; a call to it goes back over the transport it registered on.| Name | Protocol | Address | Port | State | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| transport-udp | UDP | 0.0.0.0 | 5060 | On | |
| transport-tcp | TCP | 0.0.0.0 | 5060 | On | |
| transport-tls | TLS | 0.0.0.0 | 5061 | On | |
| transport-wss | WSS | 0.0.0.0 | 8089 | On | |
| transport-ws | WS | 0.0.0.0 | 8088 | On |
- Asterisk keeps a port it has open until it restarts, so every change here needs a restart, which ends all calls. A new transport can start on a reload, but a changed or removed one cannot.
- A new port opens in the firewall on all network cards when you save. An old port stays open until you close it on the Firewall page.
- Phones learn a new port when they next fetch their configuration, so they can stay offline until then. Choose a port for them under Provisioning → Regions.
- WS and WSS cannot be changed: web phones reach them through the web server.
