About the mobile notification architecture

The AI PBX mobile softphone has a layered notification architecture:

  • Layer 0 (no dependency - default): a persistent WSS connection, an Android 15 compatible specialUse foreground service and a Doze-resistant AlarmManager watchdog that revives it. No external service is needed; calls arrive even when the device is idle or the screen is off.
  • Layer 1 (optional - Google FCM): an extra wake-up guarantee on OEM devices with aggressive battery restrictions (Xiaomi, Huawei...) or when the user swiped the app away. It fires only when the extension has no active SIP registration, so registered extensions see no delay.

If you do not want FCM, leave the provider as "Local (no dependency)". The mobile app then makes no network contact with Google at all.

With push notifications off, no extra wait or hook is added to the Asterisk dialplan.
Choose 'None' to work without Google services.

Apple Push Notification service (APNs) for the iOS app

Independent of the Android provider above: both can be on. Incoming calls wake the iPhone with a VoIP push and ring through CallKit; chat messages arrive as normal notifications.
